Pinn

Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 29, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Pinn (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Pinn mobile app, website, and related services (the “App”).

Pinn helps people discover real-life happenings and connect with others nearby. By using the App, you agree to this Privacy Policy.

The App is intended for adults 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us personal data, contact us at the address below and we will delete it.

Information we collect

We collect information you provide, information generated by your use of the App, and limited information from authentication providers you choose.

  • Account and profile: name, email address, date of birth, bio, photos, interests, topics, languages, neighborhoods, gender preferences, and other profile details you choose to share.
  • Authentication: when you sign in with Apple, Google, or email, we receive identifiers and basic profile information from that provider as needed to create and secure your account.
  • Location: with your permission, approximate or precise location so we can show people and happenings near you. You can turn location sharing off in the App.
  • Messages and social activity: chats, invites, meet requests, event attendance, calendar saves, reports, and blocks.
  • Device and notifications: device push tokens, Live Activity tokens (iOS), notification preferences, and basic technical data (such as IP address, device type, and app version) needed to operate and secure the App.
  • Purchases: if you subscribe to Pinn Plus, purchase status is managed by Apple or Google and synced through RevenueCat so we can unlock entitlements. We do not store your full payment card number.
  • Support: emails or messages you send to support@pinn.app.

How we use information

We use personal data to:

  • Provide, personalize, and improve the App (including recommendations and nearby discovery).
  • Create and manage your account, and authenticate sign-in.
  • Send transactional messages such as event reminders, chat notifications, and security notices.
  • Enable social features (profiles, chats, invites, attendance feedback).
  • Process subscriptions and restore purchases.
  • Detect abuse, spam, fraud, and safety issues; enforce our Terms and Community Guidelines.
  • Comply with law and respond to lawful requests.
  • Analyze aggregate usage to improve product quality.
  • Measure marketing campaign performance (for example, Meta ads that promote happenings and vouchers) so we can understand which ads lead people to claim vouchers, create accounts, and install the app.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal data. We share information only as described below:

  • Other users: profile details and content you make public (such as your name, photos, bio, and activity related to happenings) are visible to other users according to the features you use.
  • Service providers: vendors that help us run the App, including hosting and database (e.g. Supabase / Vercel), maps (Mapbox), email delivery (Resend), push notification services (Apple / Google), and subscription management (RevenueCat).
  • Advertising partners: when you interact with our ads or conversion events (such as viewing a voucher page, claiming a voucher, creating an account, or signing in after installing the app), we may share limited technical identifiers and hashed contact identifiers (for example, a SHA-256 hash of your email) with Meta (Facebook) for ad delivery measurement and attribution. This may include cookies or similar identifiers on the web, and the device advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS / AAID on Android) when tracking is allowed.
  • Legal and safety: when required by law, or when reasonably necessary to protect users, the public, or Pinn.
  • Business transfers: if we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, personal data may transfer as part of that transaction under appropriate safeguards.

Cookies and similar technologies

On the web, we use essential cookies and local storage for authentication and preferences. When Meta ads attribution is enabled, we also use Meta Pixel cookies (and related click identifiers such as fbclid) to measure ad performance. In the mobile app, Meta App Events may use the device advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS after you allow tracking, or AAID on Android subject to your Google Play ads settings).

Your choices and rights

You can edit your profile and notification settings in the App. You can turn off location sharing and device notifications in system settings.

On iOS, you can control ad tracking under Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking (App Tracking Transparency).

On Android, you can reset or delete your advertising ID and limit ad personalization under Google Settings → Ads (wording varies by device).

On the web, you can clear cookies or use browser controls to limit advertising cookies.

You can permanently delete your account in Settings → Delete Account. Deletion removes your account record and associated personal data we are not legally required to retain (for example, some safety or billing records may be kept for a limited period where required). Active App Store or Play subscriptions must be managed in your Apple ID or Google account settings.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export personal data, or to object to certain processing. Contact us at support@pinn.app to make a request.

Data retention and security

We retain account data while your account is active. After you delete your account, we remove personal data from our primary systems promptly, except where retention is required for legal, security, or dispute-resolution purposes.

We use industry-standard safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the data. No method of transmission or storage is fully secure.

International transfers

We may process and store information in the United States and other countries where we or our providers operate. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers.

Children

Pinn is not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.

Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated date above and, when changes are material, provide additional notice in the App or by email where appropriate. Continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
